Middleburg plays host to the jump set this weekend for the 54th annual Virginia Fall Races, a two-day gathering at the historic Glenwood Park Course. The featured attraction, Saturday's $35,000 National Sporting Library/Chronicle Cup, anchors a jam-packed program offering $112,500 in total purses. With last weekend's Ski Roundtop at Shawan Downs cancelled due to weather, the National Sporting Library/Chronicle Cup kicks off the fall timber stakes schedule. The 3 1/4-mile test drew an outstanding field of 10, including six holdovers from the Roundtop, and should prove to be a pivotal race for anyone with year-end championship aspirations.
